Dans in de kijker
Zaterdag 27 april 2024 is het Dag van de Dans! Dit jaar is het de negende editie en is het thema Dans & jong publiek. Daarbij liet de organisatie van Dag van de Dans zich leiden door ambassadrice Carli Gellings, zelf actief als maker en danser in het dans- en theaterveld voor jong publiek.
De ambassadrice van Dag van de Dans aan het woord
'Toen ik dit seizoen gevraagd werd om ambassadeur te zijn voor Dag van de Dans voelde ik me meteen geprikkeld. Het leek me een fijne uitdaging om mijn schouders onder de missie van Dag van de Dans te zetten: Dans meer bekend én bemind maken. Het thema van dit jaar, Dans & jong publiek, ligt me nauw aan het hart. Ik vind het belangrijk dat kinderen en jongeren de kans krijgen om op jonge leeftijd in aanraking te komen met verschillende kunstvormen. Dans als kunstvorm draagt in mijn ogen een enorme rijkdom in zich. Dans en beweging zijn in ons dagelijks leven overal om ons heen; dans heeft de capaciteit om taalbarrières te overstijgen en heeft de kracht om mensen dichter bij elkaar te brengen; dans heeft een enorme overvloed aan diverse stijlen, genres en mengvormen én dans geeft kinderen en jongeren de kans om zichzelf en hun creativiteit te ontdekken en om dit te kunnen meenemen naar hun volwassen leven. Het is een krachtig instrument voor culturele groei, verbinding en expressie van onze volgende generaties. Het jonge publiek is de generatie van morgen. Op mijn manier een klein deel mogen uitmaken van hun ontwikkeling en het vormen van hun blik op de wereld vind ik een hele eer, maar voelt ook als een missie waar ik als danser én als maker onverminderd voor wil
blijven gaan.”
