Information literacy: Workshop on scientific sources

The focus of this workshop (a combination of theory and exercises) is on the digital library and on dealing with scientific sources.

Through theory and exercises, students learn to recognize scientific information and how to assess information themselves. We also look at where to find information and the pros and cons of different sources.

If a topic is provided for their own paper, they can work on our databases under supervision. If there is no topic, we give a longer version of the theory with exercises, and conclude with a quiz where they can test the knowledge they have acquired.

Duration: one and a half to two hours, depending on how much time is allocated for your own research

Good to know:

  • 80% of the information that students can find in a university library is written in (academic) English.
  • Both you and your students can also consult a self-study package (available free of charge before and after the workshop) via ' Get started ', the online preparation platform of the University of Antwerp.
  • Individual students can, subject to registration, visit the library and borrow materials.
